Way & Means Projects 2007-2008

WAY$ AND MEAN$

Please give thoughtful consideration to the flyer announcing our No-Bake Bake Sale in this newsletter. A list of our charities for 2008-2009 is included. This non-event replaces last year’s biggest fundraiser, our Phantom Holiday Ball, which provided over 65% of the funds for our charities. Thank you to Betty Hinkel, Debra Krajewski, Rae Menard, Suzanne Middleton, Carol Rife, and Leesa Travis for making time in your busy schedules to serve on the Charity Selection committee.

Ways and Means is off to a great start! We sold 38 Macy’s Shop For A Cause tickets for a total of $190. With our Macy’s funds and the proceeds from our participation in the Apple Dumpling booth at the Germantown Festival, we have raised $2,528.50 so far this year! Thanks to everyone who has been involved!

New Neighbors’ Holiday No-Bake Bake Sale

Last year New Neighbors’ members contributed more than $9,000 to our local charities. Local charities are suffering in these difficult economic times. We hope that you will help by opening your hearts and pocketbooks in this season of giving. As a guideline, consider your past contributions or the amount you would spend to purchase the ingredients and the cost of your time to make an item for a charity bake sale.

New Neighbors charities for 2008-2009, nominated by you, our members, include:

Collierville Animal Shelter                    Maternal League of Memphis

Collierville Literacy Council                  Memphis Family Shelter

Down Syndrome Assoc. of Mid-South       Page Robbins Adult Day Care

Family Services of the Mid-South          Salvation Army

Les Passees                                   Women’s Foundation for

                                            Greater Memphis

You may support the charity(ies) of your choice by writing your tax deductible check to one or more of the charities listed above. Checks payable to New Neighbors will be dispersed by the Charity Distribution Committee in April, 2009, and are not tax deductible.

We must receive your contribution no later than December 1 so your contribution can be applied by December 31. New Neighbors will record your contribution and forward your check in early December so that you may take the income tax deduction on your 2008 income taxes.

Mail your check to New Neighbors, ATTN: Ways and Means Committee, PMB #210, 9245 Poplar Ave. Ste. 8, Germantown, TN 38138 or give your contribution to Sidna.

Everyone who contributes will be recognized in the May newsletter. If you have any questions, please contact Sidna Bookout at 291-6869 or bookwoman43@comcast.net. Your generous continued support of New Neighbors’ charities is sincerely appreciated!
